Your child or teen already dances and wants more. More improvisation, more risk, more personal voice. Contemporary dance opens that door.
Our teachers build each class around exploration, composition and physical courage. Clear technique at the start, creative work at the end — where your dancer brings something of their own.

"Ndigo has heart for every dancer. You learn so many new things in an honest, welcoming way. I always love coming, and there are often interesting workshops and intensives too."
Hasse Verstraete , dancerMore than technique classes alone.
Contemporary dance trains not just the body, but the way you think about movement. Your dancer learns to make choices, take risks and find their own artistic direction.
An artistic voice of your own
Improvising and owning your choices. A skill that pays off at school, at work and everywhere in between.
Physical courage and control
Floor work, partner work, falling and catching. A different kind of body awareness from what classical or jazz techniques build.
From copying to creating
Contemporary asks you to create movement, not just learn steps. That shift changes how your dancer thinks.
Listening to music differently
Contemporary also works with silence, text and soundscapes. Your dancer learns to move to more than just a beat.
Contact and trust
Partner work, weight sharing and group improvisation ask for trust in each other. That builds class by class.
A foothold in real dance practice
Contemporary is the shared language of professional companies worldwide. For anyone thinking about taking dance further, this is the place to start.
60 minutes, from floor to composition.
Every class starts close to the ground and works towards standing and moving through the space. The last 15 minutes are reserved for creative work — that is where your dancer brings something of their own.
Floor work and warm-up
Lying, rolling, giving weight to the floor. A warm-up that wakes the body from the inside out.
Improvisation task
Responding to an image, a piece of music or a single word. No right or wrong — just learning to make deliberate choices.
Technique
Release, swing, spirals, weight shifts. Techniques that widen the movement vocabulary and make the body stronger.
Phrase or composition
Learning a movement phrase or developing your own material. Technique and creativity meet in choreographic work.
Showing and closing
Anyone who wants to can show their work to the group. Brief feedback, stretching, and a moment to let the class settle.
Three levels, barefoot.
€112 / sem · From the 3rd class, €10 off each additional class

Questions parents often ask.
What is the difference between contemporary and modern dance?
Modern dance has a more structured technical base (Graham, Limón). Contemporary is freer, works with improvisation and composition, and puts more weight on the dancer's own artistic voice.
Does my child need prior dance experience?
From Minis & Kids (Year 3 primary) no prior experience is needed. For Juniors and Teens & Adults some dance experience is recommended — drop us a message if you are unsure.
What should my child wear?
Jazz pants or leggings, black top, and footies or bare feet. Knee pads are recommended for the floor work. Everything available through our shop.
Is contemporary suitable as the only dance class?
Yes, contemporary stands on its own as a complete dance style. Many dancers combine it with ballet or jazz, but that is not a requirement.
Are there adult classes too?
Yes, the Teens & Adults group is open to everyone from Year 4 secondary onwards, including 18+. You don't have to be a teenager to join.
Is there an end-of-year show?
Yes, in June on stage at the Schouwburg theatre in Roeselare. Each group brings its own piece, often with a more conceptual approach than the other styles.
